Scott Taylor and Paul Morris enter GT Festival

Scott Taylor Motorsport will continue its Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS cameo at the GT Festival at Phillip Island next weekend.

After Scott Taylor and Paul Morris teamed up to win the Trophy Class in the opening race driving the squad’s Porsche 911 GT3 R (Type 997) at Queensland Raceway, the duo has decided to race again at one of Australia’s premier motorsport venues, the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit.

While running at Phillip Island will make it consecutive rounds in the series for Taylor and Morris, the duo is yet to confirm to the rest of the season, and will play it round by round.

For this event though, the Porsche is a favourite of both drivers and will be well suited to the fast, flowing Phillip Island layout – a circuit both drivers have fond memories of.

It will be the first time since 2016 Morris has competed at Phillip Island, while Taylor last raced there in 2018 teaming up with Craig Baird in a Mercedes-AMG GT3 in the Australian Endurance Championship.

A superb array of exotic models will race at the inaugural GT Festival organised by SRO Motorsport Australia on August 23-25 featuring Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS, Monochrome GT4 Australia and Meguiar’s Australian Production Cars.

“The weekend at Queensland Raceway racing with Paul was most enjoyable as we both wanted the same thing from the car and had a similar mindset,” said Taylor.

“At my age, it’s about having fun and having that competitive spirit, while also making sure you are safe and competing in the category you enjoy - racing at Queensland ticked those boxes.

“Speaking with Paul after the event, we elected to go to Phillip Island to continue the good thing we have going and to have some more fun.

“I love Phillip Island. It’s unbelievably cool due to the whole ambience of the circuit, the drive there in my truck, the good food - it’s all very enjoyable.

“The circuit itself genuinely ticks all the boxes for me too. It’s a great track for GT cars as it's a big and fast flowing circuit. I have had a lot of fun and success in the past there and I am keen to go back.

“I also love the Porsche GT. It gives me far better feedback than any other car I have run. I am not a young person anymore and I rely on mechanical feedback, which this car is great at giving me. I can push it to the limits and not get into trouble.

“The plan is to go to Phillip Island and have a crack, and if we have fun again, enjoy the round and feel positive about reaching the best of our ability, then I guess we will look at what the next round presents and potentially attend again."
