Black Wolf Motorsport eyes Am Class success upon return in 2025
Black Wolf Motorsport will return for its second season in GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS for 2025.

Spearheaded by Sports Sedan-convert Shane Woodman and the experienced Sports Car driver in Ben Schoots, the team will once again challenge for Am Class honours in the ex-GruppeM Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo.

This year will be Woodman and Schoots’ second season together in the category, having finished fourth in Am Class during their maiden campaign last year - courtesy of a victory, a further four podium finishes and two pole positions.

The overall fourth place was a remarkable turnaround for the pair, who were involved in a big crash during the season opener at Phillip Island, bouncing back shortly after by picking up a maiden AM class victory at Queensland Raceway.

With hopes of winning the class title in 2025, the pair will need to make every meeting they attend count as Woodman is set to miss the third round at Queensland Raceway.

Like 2024, they will once again have the hugely experienced Andrew Simpson and Chris Byres working alongside the team, with Simpson to serve as the Team Manager and Byres the Crew Chief.

One noticeable difference to this year compared to last year will be the team’s vehicle, which will see the Mercedes don a livery supporting the reputable charity Challenge - Supporting Kids with Cancer.

The pair will kick off their 2025 season in GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS as part of the Shannons SpeedSeries’ GT Festival Phillip Island at Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit as on April 4-6.

Tickets for the season opener are now on sale and can be purchased via motorsporttickets.com.au.

“Last year was our first year in GT World Challenge Australia and we learnt a lot from a driving point of view as well as from a team’s perspective,” Woodman said.

“For me, driving the Mercedes had a big difference to my time in National Sports Sedans, so it was a big learning year. However we had a lot of good support from within the team..

“There will be a lot of familiarity going into this year and a lot to build on from 2024, so our aim is to get some more podiums and hopefully win the class title.

“Obviously missing the Queensland round doesn’t help our cause and puts a bit of pressure on the team - however I am confident that Ben and I can get some good points in the opening two rounds and finish strong.

“We had the opening round crash and managed to fight our way back into contention, so it will be a matter of being consistent and reliable at every round we’re at this year.

“Overall, we are very excited with the season and to go to Hampton Downs at the end of the year - to have a new track on the calendar is fantastic and we can’t wait to get there.”
