Alex Peroni and Mark Rosser return for GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS title tilt

Dual race-winning combination Alex Peroni and Mark Rosser have their eyes firmly set on the GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS Pro-Am title following an impressive maiden campaign together last year.

The program came about following a meeting at the Australia Grand Prix prior to the 2024 season beginning, which was then followed by a whirlwind preparation ahead of testing Rosser’s Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo2 at Shell V-Power Motorsport Park.

Peroni was new to racing in Australia after following the pathway to Formula 1, with Rosser returning to the category following a couple of seasons away.

The duo quickly developed into contenders after winning Race 1 at Queensland Raceway, then continuing this form by adding another victory at the Bathurst International to round off a strong campaign.

Now, with increased experience and a solid preparation, the pairing are aiming to be among the title contenders in 2025.

Respected South Australian squad Team BRM will continue to run the Audi, which will feature a new livery for the 2025 season.

GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS will open its season at Phillip Island as the headline act on the Shannons SpeedSeries roster on April 4-6.

“We had a difficult start to the season in 2024, which was semi-expected as it was the first time Mark had been teamed up with a Pro driver in the series and the level went up,” Peroni explained.

“We knew we were up against stiff competition, big teams with equally large budgets and we knew we were on the smaller side of that at Team BRM. We took a while to gel, even for me I hadn’t driven any of the tracks, never raced an Audi and had limited GT experience, so I needed to build up to.

“Things started clicking with the team between Mark, myself and the team. We changed some things in testing and by the end of the season I felt like we were consistently competitive, which is always the goal.

“We’re definitely in a better position than this time last year, we hadn’t met each other yet! We’re a lot better prepared and we can focus on developing ourselves as drivers together with the car further, but you can’t stand still in this sport and we have to keep pressing forward.”

“We ended up where our expectations were,” said Rosser.

“The start of the season wasn’t where we were hoping to be, but the reality of putting it together so late left us not as well prepared in terms of seat time before the opening round. It was just a consequence of that really.

“The expectations are very, very high. I think we’ll be disappointed if we’re not competing for podiums at every round. We had a good test to get us underway, so we’re well ahead at the same time last year in terms of Marcus Koch on the engineering side, as well as myself and Alex on the driving side.

“We’re looking forward to giving it a big crack this year.

“Queensland we felt like we were on the side of some luck whereas Phillip Island was very satisfying and exciting for us to know we had the pace to mix it with the teams at the front, which we solidified at Bathurst.

“We’re looking forward to the season, especially Shell V-Power Motorsport Park due to it being run on the usual configuration this time where we do our testing, so we should have a home track advantage at that round.

"We should be pretty strong and I hope it will be a good season overall.”
