Alex Peroni and Mark Rosser kicked off the 2025 GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS season with a bang after topping the time sheets in the opening Practice Session of the GT Festival Phillip Island.
Behind the wheel of the Team BRM /ACM Finance Audi R8 LMS EVO ll, the duo ended up fastest for the session with an impressive time of 1m 25.8207s, which was almost half a second faster than their next closest rivals.
Making up the top three behind Rosser and Peroni were two of Melbourne Performance Centre(MPC) ’s Pro-Am Audi R8 LMS EVO lls, marking a dominant display in the session for the manufacturer.
In second place 0.430 seconds behind the fastest of the session was New Zealand duo Brendon Leitch and Tim Miles of Dayle ITM and MPC teammates Brad Schumacher and Broc Feeney.
In the Am class, it was Ben Schoots and Shane Woodman in the Black Wolf Motorsport Mercedes-AMG GT3 EVO who topped the session - comfortably edging out the next best driver in Renee Gracie by nine tenths of a second.
Although Schoots and Woodman enjoyed a solid gap over the OnlyFans Audi R8 LMS EVO ll of Gracie, the latter also produced some solid times herself – comfortably finishing ahead of Theo and James Koundouris by almost a second.
Most cars managed to get plenty of solid laps throughout the session, with the only major talking points to occur being the highly anticipated EMA Motorsport Porsche 992 GT3R not getting any laps and a red-flag causing incident on lap 14 involving Ryan Wood in the Wolfbrook/Team MPC Audi R8 LMS EVO ll he shares with Steve Brooks, where he ended up off the track.
Up until going off, Woods had been one of the fastest drivers of the session and had occupied top spot for quite some time in the early parts of the session.
Pre-Qualifying remains in the day's final session of the day for GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS.
