Thomas Randle has signalled his intent in the GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS by setting the fastest lap in Free Practice 1.
In what was just his second time behind the wheel of the Tigani Motorsport Mercedes-AMG GT3 EVO, Randle produced an unbeatable lap time of 1:28m150s before eventually handing the car over to Marcel Zalloua, who finished off the rest of the session with some solid running.
Going second fastest overall in the session was Broc Feeney in the Melbourne Performance Centre Audi R8 LMS Evo II he shares with Brad Schumacher - the pair seven tenths off the leading Mercedes.
While seven tenths separated the top two fastest times, the same amount of time separated the Audi R8 LMS Evo II of Schumacher and Feeney with the next four cars - the Tigani Motorsport Mercedes-AMG GT3 EVO, with George King and Sergio Pires leading that pack just five hundredths slower.
Rounding out the top five were the two Arise Racing GT Ferrari 296 GT3s, with Jaxon Evans and Elliot Schutte three tenths faster than Jordan Love and Steve Wyatt.
In the Am Cup, it was Ben Schoots in the Black Wolf Motorsport Mercedes-AMG GT3 EVO 5200 who proved fastest for the session - his second-last lap time of 1:32m388s edging out Melbourne Performance Centre’s Renee Gracie by three tenths of a second.
