GT racing driver and respected businessman Tim Miles was farewelled in an emotional celebration of life held today in Sydney, following his tragic passing last week.
Miles, 58, was killed in a road cycling accident, leaving his family, friends, colleagues, and the Australian and New Zealand motorsport communities in shock and mourning.
Today’s funeral service drew a large gathering of loved ones and peers, including prominent figures from both the motorsport world and business circles. Among the speakers were his wife Tracey, daughters Caley and Erin, Bathurst 1000 champions Paul Dumbrell and Greg Murphy, and his lifelong friend and Porsche team owner, Andy McElrea.
The service was led by long-time friend and motorsport broadcaster Greg Rust, who also delivered heartfelt messages on behalf of those unable to attend. One particularly moving tribute came from Supercars figure Roland Dane, who reflected on Tim’s deep commitment to family and motorsport.
Miles was known not only for his sharp business acumen but also for his competitive spirit on the racetrack. In recent years, he raced in the Porsche Carrera Cup Australia before shifting focus to GT World Challenge Australia in 2024. Driving an Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II prepared by Melbourne Performance Centre, he partnered with fellow New Zealander Brendon Leitch, securing a race win at Phillip Island and a series of podium finishes.
Outside of motorsport, Miles led a successful corporate life as the founder of Miles Advisory Partners, a private business acquisition firm with offices in Sydney and Melbourne.
The sentiments shared during the service painted a portrait of a devoted husband and father, a passionate racer, and a man deeply committed to excellence in all areas of life.
A further tribute to Miles is planned for next weekend’s round of the Shannons SpeedSeries at Sandown Raceway on July 25–27.
