Realta/Tigani Motorsport’s Jayden Ojeda and Paul Lucchitti capped off Friday’s opening day of action at Sandown by setting the fastest time in Pre-Qualifying.
Marking the third session of the day for the GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS competitors, Pre-Qualifying was held in gradually darkening skies during the hour-long session.
Setting a time of 1m 08.171s, Ojeda and Lucchitti returned to the top of the timesheets after beginning the weekend fastest in Practice 1.
A late lap from Arise Racing GT’s Jordan Love placed the Ferrari 296 GT3 he will share alongside Steve Wyatt second by just eight hundredths of a second on what is this model’s first appearance at the historic circuit.
Making it three brands in the top three Pro-Am positions was Broc Feeney and Brad Schumacher’s Kelso Electrical Team MPC Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II, who ended up a further two tenths off.
Continuing his strong early form was Lee Holdsworth in fourth, who will pair alongside Marc Cini in the Hallmarc Team MPC Audi.
Rounding out the top five was the championship leading Arise Racing GT Ferrari of Jaxon Evans and Elliott Schutte, which was just three tenths off the fastest time.
Completing the outright top 10 was the sole Trophy Class entry of KFC Team MPC’s Paul Stokell and Matt Stoupas in the Audi R8 LMS Evo I.
Brothers Theo and James Koundouris were fastest in the Am Class standings to lead a Mercedes-AMG 1-2-3 lockout in the Supabarn Supermarkets/Tigani Motorsport entry.
Black Wolf Motorsport’s Ben Schoots and Shane Woodman were second from Darren Currie and Grant Donaldson for 111 Racing, while Renee Gracie rounded out the field in the OnlyFans Team MPC Audi R8 LMS EVO II.
